A Yay! Weekend
For those of you not picnic bound, here’s a few suggestions for this weeks’ Yay weekend:
Brunch
Refuel at Lennox Café in Portobello. The queues outside begin very early, so ensure you get there before at least 10am to be guaranteed a seat. Tuck into some Bircher muesli, or Egg Florentines and if you have enough room squeeze in some carrot cake.
Grab a Dublin Bike and cycle into town to see The Liffey Swim.
This open water swim has been running since 1920 and inspired the famous Jack B Yeats ‘Liffey Swim’ painting which is in the National Gallery of Ireland.
This year’s men’s’ race kicks off at 2.45pm and the women’s’ at 3.30pm from a pontoon near Watling Street Bridge, and will finish opposite the Custom House Building.
Spectators are encouraged, with the Liffey Boardwalk an ideal spot to cheer on the swimmers. Wetsuits are banned, so am sure the chilly swimmers will need the encouragement!
Dinner
La Maison opened in spring of 2009 in Castlemarket, Dublin 2. This no fuss French eatery is keenly priced, has excellent service and delicious food. A house special is the Rib of Beef for two people to share which will melt in your mouth. You can finish up with a post dinner drink in Grogan’s next door and admire the artwork on the walls.
