Help break a World Record and help the Simon Community get €10,000
1,480 people and you. That’s all that are needed on Hanover Quay, Grand Canal, Dublin 2 on Friday 2 December at 12 noon to help break a World Record and help the Simon Community get over €10,000 from The Carphone Warehouse.

The lovely Niamh at Hunter PR was in touch to let me know about this World Record Attempt. Hunter PR have been telling as many people as possible about it, to make sure they get people there on Friday December 2. Here’s the details:
World Record Attempt with a Festive Twist
Play your part in easing the burden of homelessness this Christmas, with Carphone Warehouse and Simon Community, as they try to break the world record for the highest number of simultaneous Christmas cracker pulls, this December.
Everyone has the right to shelter and food, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year as well. That’s why Simon Community – a voluntary organisation that has been working with, and supporting, homeless individuals since 1969 – deserves your support.
In addition to their nightly soup runs, the Simon Community provides emergency accommodation, specialist health services, addiction treatment and learning services to those most in need.
Carphone Warehouse wants to raise money for the Simon Community.
This year, they are donating all profits from their annual in-store gift-wrap to the charity. That means a 50c donation for each and every gift that’s wrapped. They will further donate €1 for every new fan on their Facebook page until they hit 22,000.
Carphone Warehouse hopes to raise over €10,000 for Dublin Simon Community this Christmas.

To bolster this generous Christmas campaign, Carphone Warehouse is also hoping to break the current World Record for the highest number of Christmas crackers pulled simultaneously.
Where? Hanover Quay, Grand Canal, Dublin 2
When? December 2nd, 2011, at middayThe record currently stands at 1,570, and they are aiming to top that by achieving 1600 cracker pulls at once. If the record is broken, The Carphone Warehouse will donate a generous further amount to the Simon Community.
To help break the record, and play your part in supporting one of the city’s most deserving charities, Carphone Warehouse wish to extend an invitation to all employees from every company in Dublin’s Grand Canal area and all our costumers to take part in this record breaking occasion.
On the day, there will be mince pies, mulled wine, and hot chocolate for everyone who takes part, in addition to Christmas carol sing-along with some very special Irish music acts.
