Street Performance World Championship launch – videos and photos

Some videos, photos and interviews from the launch of the 2011 Street Performance World Chamionship on Grafton Street, Dublin, last Sunday.

The Street Performance World Championship (SPWC) are in Cork and Portlaoise next weekend, June 11 and 12 and in Merrion Square, Dublin, Thursday 16 to Sunday 19.

They came, they saw, they screamed. On Sunday, The Space Cowboy stuck two metal hooks into his face and broke a Guinness World Record for the most weight dragged from the eye sockets.

He pulled a tricycle full of people (dressed as Where’s Wally) with a combined weight of 411kg across a distance of 10 metres.

I was there. It was gruesome. Here’s a video of it – the photoshoot and the actual event:

and some photos from the SPWC Facebook page:

The event was, of course, to highlight the upcoming Street Performance World Championship.

They’re on in Portlaoise as well as Cork this year, hence the pretty girl in the Laois jersey being lifted by Goliath, the World’s Smallest Strongman:

Before the attempt, the Space Cowboy and Goliath entertained the crowds:

and after the event, I sat down with them both to have a chat. It’s where Space Cowboy did something fairly disgusting too:

We’ll have more on the SPWC in the next few days but in the meantime, some links for you:

It is going to be awesome!
