The Dublin Dragon Boat Regatta – get on the water and have some fun

The Irish Dragon Boating Association and Plurabelle Paddlers are holding an action packed weekend of dragon boat racing in Dublin City on September 10 and 11. You can come along and join in – no previous experience is required!

The Plurabelle Paddlers are a pretty unique sporting team – they’ve set up a dragon boat racing team to encourage those who have had breast cancer to live full and physically active lives.
There’s a real sense of community, of empathy and of divilment about them and they’re now co-hosting a Dragon Boat racing regatta in Dublin for everyone.

The IDBA in conjunction with Plurabelle Paddlers will be holding an action packed weekend of dragon boat racing in the heart of Dublin City.
Teams of between 13 and 20 people are invited. NO previous experience is required. We plan to hold racing for the more seasoned paddler as well as the novice.
For more information, please contact Julie Doyle – info@acaunsolutions.com.
Entry fee is €425.00/team. There is also the option to raise money for the charity of your choice. Sign up by Friday August 26.
When Maria from the Plurabelle Paddlers contacted us, here’s what she said:
It is a fantastic water sport and we would like to give as many people as possible the chance to try it out. We’ll provide all the equipment, basic technique instructions and experienced helms so all they have to do is show up.
People who cannot put a team that size together can always email their names to our coach Julie Doyle as she will be grouping any spare ppl into teams herself. It would be great to see you guys there.
You’ll find the Plurabelle Paddlers Facebook page here, the Irish Dragon Boat Association’s one here and the Facebook event (quoted above) right here.

I am Chair of the irish Canadian Society — we’d like to know what Canadians are participating and when so that we can provide them with a bit of a cheering section — and how we can contact them to offer some hospitality.
Thanks,
Dave Wilson.
