Tweet and help the Irish Cancer Society win €30,000
#ESBElectricIrelandTeamB
If you’re on twitter and you use that hashtag in your tweets or post on Facebook tomorrow, you ‘ll be helping the Irish Cancer Society win €30,000. What a great Christmas present for them that would be.

What’s it all about? Well, it’s an ESB Electric Ireland campaign that could help the Irish Cancer Society, or ISPCC or Concern get up to €30,000 from them. Magic.
You might remember me posting about this campaign a while back.
Well, now the drivers have been chosen and it all starts tomorrow. Over on Facebook you’ll find this page:
and that will tell you pretty much what the press release I’m quoting below will tell you. I’m supporting Team B and the Irish Cancer Society for personal reasons but pick your favourite charity and go with it.
On Team B we have
- Irish Cancer Society – @irishcancersoc
- Liz Cotter – @cotterliz
- Andrew Stanley – @astanleycomedy

**PRESS RELEASE**
ESB ELECTRIC IRELAND HAVE SELECTED THREE DRIVERS TO HELP TWEET ‘EM HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
READY STEADY TWEET – HASHTAGS FOR EACH TEAM ANNOUNCED TO POWER CHARITY CARS
Monday, 5th December 2011: After an intensive nationwide search, ESB Electric Ireland today announced that Mike Carey and Liz Cotter from Cork and Ian O’Flynn from Mullingar have been selected as the lucky drivers who will help Tweet ‘em Home for Christmas.
Each driver and their “star navigator” will receive €10,000 from ESB Electric Ireland for their relevant charity and will also compete to generate Tweets using three team hashtags, in a race to receive an additional €20,000 for the winning charity.
The drivers will work alongside ‘star navigators’ and the three teams will compete to generate Tweets using dedicated hashtags, with the tweets powering their cars as they cross the country.
People can show their support for one of the three charities by tweeting or posting on Facebook hashtags to top up their tank.
FOR THE IRISH CANCER SOCIETY:
Team B will represent the Irish Cancer Society and star navigators comedian Andrew Stanley and RTE presenter Katie Van Buren will need as many tweets and retweets as possible using the #ESBElectricIrelandTeamB hashtag.
FOR THE ISPCC
Team C will drive for the ISPCC and magician Keith Barry and rugby commentator Brent Pope will be asking for support on the #ESBElectricIrelandTeamC hashtag to help top up their tank and bring them across the finish line first!
FOR CONCERN:
Team A including musician Mundy and comedian Joe Rooney will represent Concern Worldwide and to help Tweet ‘em home for Christmas simply use the hashtag, #ESBElectricIrelandTeamA.
The teams will travel from Dublin to Galway and back again this Thursday and Friday, December 8 and 9 in a Renault Trophy, a DeLorean and a New York yellow taxi cab. The teams will compete in a number of challenges in various towns along the way to earn additional Tweet energy for their cars.
Here’s the link with all the details. It all kicks off Thursday morning.
