Win a copy of Scala’s debut album
With almost a million views on YouTube and that version now being used in the trailer for Downton Abbey, Scala create one of the most distinctive and recognisable sounds around. Win a copy of their debut album featuring covers of many favourite songs.
We met Scala at the Cork International Choral Festival in 2010 where they delivered an impressive loud and widely applauded concert. Since then things have just continue to get better for them and it’s with great delight we can feature this competition.

Scala is the most unique band on the planet. An act made up of the classically trained Kolacny Brothers; Steven (piano) and Stijn (conducting) who have turned a 200 strong Belgian all-girl choir into an international phenomenon, performing stunningly beautiful reinterpretations of Radiohead, U2, Nirvana and Metallica songs (to name but a few) as well as their equally successful original compositions.
Scala & Kolacny Brothers have released their debut UK + Ireland album, the eponymously titled ‘Scala & Kolacny Brothers’, which is a mixture of famous re-imaginations as well as some of their own original compositions.
An E.P. with a reworking of Kings of Leon lead track ‘Use Somebody’ was Scala’s first keynote release here. It showcases the group’s unique ethereal sound through a haunting version of this iconic rock song.
With their spectacular visual performances and uniquely beautiful arrangements of popular rock and indie songs, Scala has become a word of mouth phenomenon in Europe and the US.
Their version of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ was picked by David Fincher himself to feature on the trailer of hit film ‘The Social Network’ taking the band to a completely new audience.
Scala have sold over 500,000 records in Europe now and performed live at Coachella and SXSW this year.

Album track listing:
- Nothing Else Matters
- Solsbury Hill
- Champagne Supernova
- Ironic
- With Or Without You (string version)
- Everlong
- I Feel You
- Use Somebody
- Our Last Fight
- Seashell
- Masquerade
- Creep
- Smells Like Teen Spirit
I have a few albums to give away. To be in with a chance of winning just leave a comment below. Winners will be chosen at random and emailed.
Check out Scala’s website or Facebook page for more. You can also hear a preview on Soundcloud here.
Thanks to Bernie at PIAS Ireland for the competition prizes.

Hey there,
Would love to be considered for an album, discovered these guys a couple of weeks ago following the Downton Abbey teaser trailer and made the Social Network connection. Have been replaying their YouTube vids ever since.
Beautiful music altogether

I’ve only recently discovered Scala & Kolacny Brothers and they get to me in a way I can’t describe in words, it hits deeper than that. Music like this needs to be shared.
