Win tickets to The Bride of Frankenstein: SHE’S ALIVE!
What are you doing for Hallowe’en? How about a trip to the National Concert Hall to hear the RTÉ Concert Orchestra accompany Boris Karloff in a scary movie from 1935?

I don’t know what you did as a child at Hallowe’en but assuming it was anything like my own growing up in Graiguenamanagh, there was dressing up in a black bin liner, there was a bit of bobbing for apples and there were a lot of scary movies on RTÉ.
It was, in fact, the only thing I liked about Hallowe’en, one of the few times of year I don’t actually enjoy. Movies though were my thing and the scarier, the better. I was never into gore as much as I was just terror and suspense and I developed a long standing love of scary stories and books – from Edgar Allan Poe to Christopher Pike to Stephen King to Dean Koontz to Clive Barker. All the classics.

This film - The Bride of Frankenstein : SHE’S ALIVE! - from 1935 was the first sequel to the influential Frankenstein (1931). Bride of Frankenstein stars Boris Karloff as The Monster, Elsa Lanchester in the dual role of his mate and Mary Shelley, Colin Clive as Henry Frankenstein, and Ernest Thesiger as Doctor Septimus Pretorius. It also has a spine chilling soundtrack by Franz Waxman and that will be presented Monday afternoon and night by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
National Concert Hall, Monday 31 October, 3pm & 8pm
