Win tickets to Avenue Q at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre
I mentioned Avenue Q is coming to Dublin back in August of last year and now it’s less than a week before the show starts (April 3 to 7) and here they are in a quick interview with me and your chance to win tickets to Friday night’s show!

I met Daniella Gibb (Kate Monster), Sam Lupton (Rod) and Chris Thatcher (Nicky) down at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre (y’know… at Grand Canal Dock) where we had the chat. Can’t watch the video? Here’s an MP3 of it:

Not sure what I can tell you about Avenue Q that you mightn’t already know.
It’s a musical about a kid called Princeton who moves to the avenue and decides to find his purpose in life. There he meets various characters, humans and monsters alike, who entertain, sing, dance and play. It’s ridiculously good natured with great songs and numbers and I’m looking forward to seeing it again. For the fourth time.
After nearly five years of mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness, London’s funniest show by far is hitting the road. Hilarious and uproariously entertaining, with a terrific batch of songs performed by a cast of hugely talented performers and puppets, Avenue Q is the musical like no other.
This Tony Award – winning irresistibly charming musical is about the lovably hopeless characters on a downtown New York street trying to make sense of life’s burning issues: love, work, relationships and, above all, how are you supposed to pay the bills with a BA in English?
This show is NOT recommended for under 12s. Show contains very strong language and sexual content.
Book your tickets here. Don’t let your life suck. Ahem.

I’ll also point out that if you’re a member of the Bord Gáis Rewards Club, you can get two tickets for €50 – normally €88 in a flash sale running until Friday.
As per their email today:
The Bord Gáis Rewards Club have very kindly given me two pairs of tickets to give away for next Friday night, April 6 at 8.30pm. Just stick a comment below to be in with a chance to win them. I’ll pick the winner on Wednesday, April 4 at random and drop them an email. Telling me how much you want to go MIGHT help.
Bord Gáis Energy are on Facebook here and on twitter as @BGErewards. The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is on Facebook and on twitter as @BGETheatre.
Thanks to Daniella, Sam and Chris for their time, and to Eoin and to Ruth for all their help with the interview and competition.
And just because I can:

I’d LOVE to see this show, we’ve just had a bit of a family crisis (my brother had a stroke on Monday), so something like this would be some much-needed comedy relief!

I have all the Avenue Q songs on my iPod and they are always guaranteed to put a smile on my face. In fact, if I got to see them live the “Yay!” would probably be heard for miles around!!

I’m very particular about the type of theater I go to, there are two strict criterion that a show must abide by.
A. It must have puppets in it
or
B. It must have muppets in it
Avenue Q meets both these criteria! Would love to see the show.

Not normally a musicals kind of person but THIS I would love to see – full frontal puppet nudity and muppets singing about racism, sex and porn. I think this is as far away from the Sound of Music as you can get.
