Win tickets to Steve Reich’s Drumming at the National Concert Hall
The past week has been a great week for music with the KBC Great Music in Irish Houses Festival having brought some of the finest chamber musicians in the world to Ireland. Come to the finalé in the National Concert Hall tonight.
The young and vibrant Colin Currie Group offers an engaging interpretation off Steve Reich’s iconic masterpiece, Drumming.
This theatrical and captivating showcase for percussion is a non-stop fusion of bongo drums, marimbas, glockenspiels and synthesised vocals. KBC Music in Great Irish Houses is proud to present the only Irish performance of this gargantuan work.
Since their debut at the BBC Proms with Drumming, the group have performed the work to great acclaim at many major venues and Festivals including 2 sell-out events at London’s Southbank Centre and the 2011 Cheltenham Festival.
Reich himself said of their performance, “I think this man has taken this piece into another generation, yes, but beyond that into a finer level of performance and has opened it up to me as a kind of revelation, and I want to thank him.”
Tickets for Sunday night’s Irish premiere are €20 with €15 conc.
The KBC Great Music in Irish Houses Festival has given audiences the chance to see some of the finest chamber musicians in the world perform in beautifully intimate settings.
This year the Festival visited some buildings for the very first time, such as the Mansion House, Little Museum of Dublin, Rathfarnham Castle, Smock Alley and also for the very first time in the Festival’s 40 year history, the National Concert Hall.
