Win tickets to the opening night of An Inspector Calls at the Gaiety Theatre

Breathtaking‘, ‘Superbly tense‘ and ‘Visually stunning‘ is how the critics have hailed An Inspector Calls which opens at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre in February with an all star cast on their UK and Ireland tour. You can win tickets to the opening night here.

When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.

There’s a few West End productions coming to Dublin this year and this is definitely on my list to see.

With the longest running play revival in history, Stephen Daldry’s AN INSPECTOR CALLS has played in the West End (including an eight-year run), on Broadway, across Australia, the United States, Japan and Europe and has currently completed six major UK tours.

AN INSPECTOR CALLS returns on tour following its recent phenomenal success in the West End, where, once again, the production proved a smash hit with critics and audiences alike. Winning a host of new five-star reviews and enjoying sell-out performances, the production extended its initial eight-week run at the Novello Theatre with a further sixteen weeks at the Wyndham’s.

Director Stephen Daldry, now triple Oscar nominated for his films The Reader (starring Kate Winslett, Ralph Fiennes), The Hours (starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore) and Billy Elliot (starring Jamie Bell), won his first major directorial success in 1992 when his visionary revival of J.B. Priestley’s AN INSPECTOR CALLS opened at the National Theatre to outstanding critical acclaim.

Featuring Ian MacNeil’s ingenious designs, a sweeping score by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love) and atmospheric lighting by Rick Fisher, the production has received an unprecedented string of awards – a total of 19 major international awards – including the Olivier Award for Best Revival, Best Director and Best Designer and the Tony Award on Broadway for Best Revival, Best Director and Best Lighting.

The 2011-12 UK tour cast includes: Tom Mannion as Inspector Goole, Geoff Leesley as Mr Birling, Karen Archer as Mrs Birling, Kelly Hotten as Sheila Birling, Henry Gilbert as Eric Birling, John Sackville as Gerald and Janie Booth as Edna.

AN INSPECTOR CALLS is at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin from February 13 to 18 at 7.30pm each evening with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 18.

Tickets cost €17.50, €25, €27.50, €30, €35, €37.50 and €40 and can be bought at the Gaiety Theatre box office on 0818 719388. 10 am – 7 pm / Mon to Sat.

This is the Irish premiere of this multi award-winning production and thanks to the Gaiety Theatre (on Facebook here), you could be the lucky winner of a pair of tickets to opening night, Monday February 13.

Just comment below with who you will bring if you win.

The winner will be picked at random and emailed on Thursday 9 February. Thanks to the Gaiety Theatre for offering the competition prize. Very much appreciated!
